Again, another 5-star read by Stacy Claflin. This is the second book in the Brannon House series, and the secrets of the Brannon House and the family become more intense the more the story goes. I cannot wait to see what Stacy Claflin has up her sleeve, or in her fingertips, next.
Kenzie and her niece Ember are slowly adjusting to their new normal. Kenzie is getting back to work and Ember is hanging out with her friends. But that does not change the fact that things at home are becoming stranger. The creaking, banging, and doors slamming are continuing to make them jump. Door being left open, and then closed, when they are not the ones doing it, raises more questions. Now they hear giggling that sounds like a little girl.
When Kenzie decides to start brining her mom, who has been living in a memory care home due to her dementia, home for day visits, her mom seems drawn to her dads old study and a full length mirror in the hallway. When they discover that the mirror is a hidden door to a tunnel, they are puzzled. Has someone been coming in without them knowing? Where does the tunnel lead? Does her mom know anything about it?
On top of the unanswered question they already have, there is the fact that the home has informed Kenzie that her mom has been sneaking out and in at night. And may have been doing so for quite some time. Where has she been going? Is she really suffering from dementia, or is this some horrible game her mother is playing?
There are so many twists and turn in this book that you wont be able to put it down until you’ve devoured it all.
