After reading The Darkest Garden (Brannon House Book #3), I just knew I had to go back and read the books from the beginning of the series and I was not disappointed. Stacy Claflin has quickly become one of my favorite authors and she continues to surpass expectations.

Makenzie Brannon lives in L.A. She does not have a glamorous life by any means, but she has a job she enjoys. She gets paid to pose as a date or friend, for those who want to get either their families off their back or make their own lives seem fuller. While on a particularly enticing “date” she gets a phone call that flips her world upside down.

Now she is back in her hometown, in her childhood home. Raising her niece who she has not seen in at least 5 years. She has no idea what she is doing, but she does know one thing. Her sister did not kill herself. She had everything going for her. She cannot have. But how can she prove it? While trying to make her creepy childhood home more livable for her and her niece, and uncovering bits of clues, can they find out the truth before they become victims themselves?
