When You Start To Miss Me by Stacy Claflin

Alicia Cutrona

Stacy Claflin has hit it out of the park once again. This is a 5-star read for sure! It is exceedingly rare to find an author whose work reads so easily. Stacy has a way of writing that connects so flawlessly. As I read this book, I could picture myself having the same conversations that the main characters were having, the same thoughts. It read so well it was easy to get lost within this story. This book was outside my preferred genre, yet she has made me fall in love with the romance. This is a very PG romance, which I prefer, and caters to both young adults and adults alike.

The story follows the story of Lincoln and Malia. Both have ghosts that follow them. Lincolns ghosts are in his past. A past filled with tragedy and heartache. Malia’s ghosts are real. She lives a nightmare daily and her strength and will to live make her a strong female character. Her family life is a nightmare. She’s caught between the life she leads and the life she wants to live. Their meeting was accidental. Neither thought they would see the other again. It’s a small world and they realize they have been closer to each other than they both realized. Their romance is an easy whirlwind, considering they are both college students juggling life, friends, and school. The support Lincoln provides is very knight in shining armor. But is Malia’s living nightmare too much for them to withstand? This book is full of romance, humor, and action. It will take you on a rollercoaster of emotions from start to finish.

The only criticism I can give is that the characters, although beautifully written and easy to love, feel a little shallow. I think they the emotional depth could have been better portrayed. The title also does not seem to fit the story. I was a bit perturbed by that. Neither of these issues take away from the amazing job that Stacy did with this story. I look forward to reading more in this series. Stacy has not written anything yet that I have not loved, and this quickly became one of my favorites from her.

I want to thank the author, Stacy Claflin, for providing me with this ARC copy and allowing me to be a part of her ARC team.
